Reading your own wedding vows

I love it when couples feel confident enough to write their own personal declarations, vows & promises to each other for their wedding day. It means a lovely surprise for each of the couple & normally a bit ribbing of each other’s foibles too.

Natasha & Darren did just that back in July during their beautiful wedding ceremony at The Pheasant Brewery.

To ensure success, I give the couple guidance & structure on what they might want to say to each other. Then, after they email me their secret words, I give feedback & further guidance, if needed, to ensure each set of words of promises are balanced & compliment each other. I will often also suggest some shared vows although these will normally naturally occur.

For the wedding day, I then produce elegant & handcrafted vow booklets which I bring with me & share with the couple individually immediately before the ceremony starts so they can have one final read-through.

The result: heartfelt words, joy & often laughter. The couple also get a beautiful keepsake of their vows & promises to each other.

I love this moment captured by talented wedding photographer Chloe, as Natasha reads her declaration, vows & promises to Darren.
